ARE YOU A MODERN GIRL? RITUALS & NOWNESS
PERFORMANCE AT THE OPENING OF A GROUP SHOW
The performance is based on spring folk traditions such as Lazarki and Rochulki, reviving the songs of the ancestors in order to activate vital energies and align our bodies with the rhythms of nature's renewal. Connecting with the old songs and weaving the voices teaches us how to stay fully present as we move through the processes of transformation together. Marking the cycles of life is one of the vital functions of ritual practices, the importance of which is especially emphasized in the age of the constant flow of information to which we are exposed. The ritual of chanting, in turn, refers to the synchronized living connection between participants and the sense of community, serving as a kind of counterpoint to contemporary alienation.
